IPL 2020 in UAE Officially Confirmed: 19th SEP to 10th NOV 2020

IPL 2020 in UAE is not a rumor anymore however, recently on 2 August 2020, The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) had a meeting over video-conference. The talk was on the IPL 2020 edition as the COVID 19 issue made the tournament impossible to happen in India.

IPL Governing Council decided to stage the 2020 edition of IPL in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). All the requirements for hosting the tournament will be provided by the Emirates Cricket Board. The IPL matches will be played in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai. The matches will be played from the date 19th September to 10th November.

The 53-day tournament will contain 10-afternoon matches starting at 15:30 IST while the evening matches will start at 19:30 IST. Apart from this, the Governing Council also discussed the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which will be finalized and published in upcoming days. This will provide a bio-secure environment for the safe and successful conduct of IPL 2020 in the UAE.

Moreover, they have also reviewed the Player Regulations for replacement players for the 2020 season. Since some players won’t be playing due to restrictions on travel, the replacement player has to be chosen before the season starts. So, they can prepare for playing & everything.

There is also a piece of good news for the fans of Women’s T20 Challenge, it will also take place in the UAE during the IPL playoff week. There will be 3 teams with 4 matches played during playoff week.

A meeting will be soon called with all the IPL franchises for adjustment & changes.

What we are going to see in the upcoming days about IPL is going to be historical. It’s not the first time that IPL will be hosted outside the country. It has happened in the past year ones due to the general election in India. Only the situation is different here, the goal of every team is the same and that is to win the trophy and bring their name on the map.

We won’t be able to enjoy the matches live but we are sure that we will be able to watch Live on TV & various streaming apps. And this time the feel will be a little different as there will be a small audience or no audience at all in the stadium. But we are sure that there will be commentary that will add excitement & fun even in this pandemic. As more news will come, we will update here so make sure you follow to get all IPL related news & updates.
